This policy explains what Plani collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and what your choices are. It applies to the Plani billing assistant you reach by iMessage and the billing dashboard at plans.meetplani.com.
Plani is operated by HonKao Enterprises, 6 Liberty Square #506, Boston, MA 02109. Privacy questions: [email protected].
Plani is a text-message billing assistant for attorneys. You text your time as you work; Plani logs each entry, sorts it by client and category, and emails you a weekly spreadsheet. Plani is a convenience tool — it is not a system of record, not a court-grade or auditable CPCS/CJA record, and not legal or accounting advice. Always review your entries before you submit your billing.
When you use Plani, we collect:
To do your billing, Plani necessarily processes information about your clients and matters — the names and descriptions you put in your time entries. You control that information. Plani processes it only to provide the billing service to you, on your instruction, and for no other purpose. We never sell or rent it.
You are responsible for making sure your use of Plani is consistent with your own professional and ethical obligations, including client confidentiality. Each week, at your direction, Plani emails your billing summary — which includes client names, time, and categories — to the billing or bookkeeper address you configure. You choose that recipient.
To run the service: reading and logging your time entries, sorting them by client and category, answering your questions, emailing your weekly billing summary to the address you set, and operating and improving Plani. We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't use it to train AI models for anyone else.
To deliver the service, your data passes through vendors who act on our behalf under contract:
We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it with anyone else except as required by law or to protect against fraud or harm. For the current list of named sub-processors, email us.
Plani's replies and its billing categorizations are generated by an AI model (Anthropic's Claude). AI can be wrong — it can mis-categorize an entry, miss one, or misread a message. Plani is an assistant, not a substitute for your own review. Check your entries before you bill, and don't rely on Plani for legal, financial, or other professional judgment.
Our marketing pages (meetplani.com) use:
These set cookies in your browser. You can block them via your browser settings or extensions. Opting out won't break anything — Plani doesn't depend on them.
The billing dashboard and the messaging service do not use these trackers.
By texting Plani, you consent to receive Plani's replies and the billing-related messages you've asked for. Message and data rates may apply.
To stop receiving messages, tell Plani to stop, or email [email protected], and we'll turn your messages off. To delete your account entirely, see Your rights below.
We retain your data as long as it's necessary to provide the service, maintain reasonable records, and improve and secure Plani. Retention may differ across data types (messages, billing entries, account info, inactive accounts).
You can ask us to delete your data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll do it.
You can ask us to:
Email [email protected] and we'll handle it. If you live in California, Virginia, Connecticut, Colorado, Utah, or Texas (or another state with a consumer privacy law), you may have additional statutory rights — those apply to you regardless of what this policy says.
We use reasonable technical and administrative safeguards to protect your data. No system is fully secure. If we ever experience a breach affecting your data, we'll notify you as required by law.
This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware.
We'll update this policy as Plani changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent change. Material changes will be communicated to active users.
